This tour is organized with special emphasis on the
Historical Churches and temples of Goa with a traditional Goan lunch at a
spice farm.
A visit to the world heritage monuments of Bom Jesus Basilica (where lies
the remains of St Francis Xavier), Se Cathedral, St Cajetan, etc. After a
visit to Old Goa, visit the renowned Temple of Shree Mahalsa famous for its
beautiful interior i.e. wooden carved pillars and Mangueshi Temple for its
mixed blend of Hindu and Portuguese Architecture.
A distance away from the busy road is a beautiful spice farm situated at
Curti Ponda, amidst lush green surroundings. At the entrance to the farm an
official of the farm will welcome the visitors by offering Garlands, Aarti
(Illumination of Oil lamps), Tilak and tender coconut. The guide then takes
you on a tour of the farm where in you get a chance to acquaint yourself
with the different spices grown at the farm, taking pains to explain every
detail of the usefulness of the spices. Learn more about the tropical
fruits, herbs and roots grown in this part of the world.
The type of spices you will come across would be Cloves, Cardamom, Beetle
nuts, Cinnamon, Elaichi, Coffee pods, Turmeric, Vanilla pods, Tea leaves
etc. The type of fruit trees you will have a chance to see would be the
Jackfruit, Pineapple, Mango, Guava, Chico, Breadfruits, Grapefruit, etc. At the plantation you will see a Cashew Feni distillation unit, cross
breed cows, compost pit and a gober gas methane plant, which are all
interconnected. Two rivulets pass through the farm and its water is utilized
for the plantation. Visitors can go through the pure, cool, running water in
a pollution free environment. Ecological systems could be studied in the
plantation apart from environment.
Here the clients can visit the traditional Masala Making Machine
described as “ Mussol-Vann” involving two ladies.
After the short tour through the farm, guests will head back to the
hotels. |
