Local Train through country side, Ancestral House, Antique furniture
A scenic train journey from Vasco da Gama, the port town of Goa through
lush green countryside, fields and quaint villages of south of Goa. Alight at the Village of Chandor, visit the most famous ancestral house
of Menezes Braganza House filled up with wonderful treasures and priceless
antiques. High tea will be served at the palatial house, which will comprise
of Goan home made sweets.
Menezes Braganza House : - A house with 33 balconies, built in stages, 1”
400 years, 2nd 350 years and last 250 years. This is the 8th generation that
is living in the house (2 families). The house contains antique furniture
made of teak, rosewood and ebony. A few pieces of furniture at the house are of Chinese origin and they
came from Macao. The porcelain ceramic vases etc. are of Japanese and
Chinese origin. The chandeliers came from Belgium and the flooring tiles are
of Italian marble.
The house has a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Bon Voyage. There is a
small casket with the nail of St. Francis Xavier. There are two large halls,
which were used for family functions. |
