Neemrana Fort Palace
One of the leading heritage hotels of Rajasthan and
India, Neemrana Fort Palace has a prime location. The palace
hotel is located on the Delhi - Jaipur Highway in the
village of Neemrana in Alwar district As one leaves for
Jaipur from Delhi, be sure to halt after you have traveled
122 kilometers. There on the right is a small lane leading
up to one of the most beautiful 15th century monuments.
Built by a king called Raj Dev, Neemrana stands on a
small hillock. Three artistically inclined people went about
renovating it and as a result a stay has the added benefit
of being a lesson in Indian aesthetics and crafts. Neemrana
Fort-Palace is India's oldest heritage resort. Sited on a
majestic plateau, concealed in a horseshoe formation of the
billion year-old Aravalli ranges, the property covers 25
acres/10 hectares. The stepped palaces of this architectural
jewel are cut into the hillside to sprawl over 3 acres/1.2
hectares. The palaces rises to 10 levels commanding the most
splendid views from its rampart gardens, its imposing
arcaded ramps, its rooms and terraces - and even from its
loos.
From 1986, the ruins of this Fort-Palace have been
sensitively restored and reconstructed. The rooms are
furnished with an eclectic mix of traditional Indian and
colonial furniture, antiques, and objects d'art. Most rooms
have private balconies or terraces.
